PaperUI is the umbrella name for our techniques on human-paper interaction via various views.
Sharing some basic ideas of Augmented Reality, PaperUI uses images and videos of real paper as interfaces and exploits visual cues in
these images and videos to orient multimedia retrieval, annotation and other information access.
Different from the conventional Augmented Reality definition, PaperUI does not require the strict registration of the digital document
and the captured image/video for better usability and practicality in our applications.
By using visual cues in various interfaces, we expect to make the interfaces more intuitive than purely keypad-based interfaces.
This technology can be used to enhance books and catalogs with multimedia, and facilitate human-paper interaction with cell phones and/or digital pens.
