| FountainCam: A high-resolution "virtual window" using a panoramic video camera |
A frequent complaint in our Kumo conference room is that there is no window to provide natural light. FountainCam provides a "virtual window" using a high-resolution panoramic video image displayed on a wall-mounted plasma monitor. With FountainCam, room inhabitants have a natural view of roughly what they would see if the walls were transparent. The natural variation of daylight gives room inhabitants an implicit sense of the passage of time.

FountainCam is implemented using a two-camera FlyCam system, using S-video for color fidelity. The high-resolution video is displayed on an NEC 50-inch plasma display.
