Review of "Quantum Computer Science: An Introduction" by N. David Mermin

Over the years I have enjoyed Mermin’s colorful, idiosyncratic, and insightful papers. His interest in
the foundations of quantum mechanics has led him to discover alternative explanations for various
quantum mechanical puzzles and protocols. These explanations are often superior to previous
explanations in both simplicity and insight, and even when they are not outright better, they
provide a valuable alternative point of view. His book is filled with such explanations, and with
strong, sometimes controversial, opinions on the right way of seeing something, which make his
book both valuable and entertaining.
